This presentation of GEOPARK Sachsens Mitte was prepared by the LEADER Region “Silbernes Erzgebirge“ in the course of the cooperation project “Geocooperation Germany Finland.” Here, two LEADER-Regions work together that each have a geopark within their area: the LEADER-Region Aisapari in Finland with Impact Craterlake Geopark and the LEADER-Region "Silbernes Erzgebirge" with GEOPARK Sachsens Mitte. Both geoparks aim for certification in the not too distant future. A vivid exchange of ideas lays the best foundation for certification. That way, thoughts are shared and a long lasting partnership on various levels is growing ever more intense. Moreover, the general focus is not only on the geopark, but also on mobility, regional value generation and tourism. “Geocooperation” is a cooperation project 80 % of which are funded by the Free State of Saxony and the European Union. The LEADER development strategies of both partners form the foundation of the cooperation.
